If you're searching for authentic Sichuan hotpot in Houston, look no further! Liuyishou Hotpot delivered an unforgettable dining experience. We ordered the signature spicy bullfrog base and the herbal mushroom broth—both were packed with depth and aroma. The premium beef and lamb platters melted in the mouth, and the hand-pulled noodles were a perfect finish. The modern atmosphere, coupled with exceptionally helpful staff (who patiently explained the cooking times for each item), made our meal truly special. Don’t miss their homemade plum drink—it’s the perfect pairing! 10/10!

If you’re craving Chinese-style hotpot in Houston, Liuyishou is the place to go. The broth quality here is amazing — rich, flavorful, and perfect for cooking all your meats and veggies. My go-to combo is the special vegetable oil broth with the pork bone broth. Absolute perfection every time.
One thing I really love is their free sauce bar. Making your own custom sauce is half the fun and takes the whole experience to another level. Service is fast, ingredients come out quickly, and the overall experience is always consistent.
At this point, this is basically my designated hotpot spot in Houston!

Overall - glad I tried it as it was yummy but probs not interested in coming back
Menu - it’s an AYCE style with certain dishes you have to pay extra for. For AYCE, it starts off around $28/per person and then you can either choose an individual broth ($6-10 depending on which size) or a shared two broth bowl for the group (about $14 total). So, it’s about $35-40 per person for the AYCE. Lots of options to put in your hot pot (surprisingly no bok choy though), so if you’re a fan of it, def can get the bang for your buck. Not a huge meat connoisseur but did think the meats tasted high quality as well. As for the broth, the #1 broth spice lvl is NO JOKE even at MILD. Avoid it if you can’t tolerate any spice. Menu was aesthetic n easy to read, though it would’ve been better to include small pics of hot pot stuff.
Service - started off strong w the waiters checking in on us and explaining how the process goes. You order through the waiter so I suggest writing everything you want in your notes n just letting them read it rather then order as you go (bc depending on the noise lvl, might be hard to understand what both sides r saying). Towards the end, felt like it was harder to get their attention as they were busy cleaning up. However, did really appreciate them trying to fix the spicy lvl problem of our broth.
Ambiance - smaller than I expected but I thought the space area was very cute and aesthetically pleasing. Def decorated to enhance the feelings of eating at a high end hot pot place, which I appreciated. However, it can feel crowded in areas so depending on how packed the building is, good luck trying to access the al le carte area (good variety of sauces, dips, desserts, etc)
Things that can be improved
- the high static ear piercing sound when the stove is being turned on. If you’re susceptible to these noises, be warned bc it was extremely annoying for the first few minutes n it feels like it’s constantly playing. It apparently goes away when you lower the heat tho. Regardless, if you’re somehow able to eliminate this noise, it would help prevent feeling sick
- the sauce area. The descriptions/explanations of what is what is kinda hard to read in its engraved spot. You’d have to angle n duck just to read them. Wish they were in black rather than white.
- bowls >> platters. The long plates were cute but they weren’t that practice to eat soup out of. Had to resort to using those lettuce bowls to get my soup lol
Overall, glad to have experienced hot pot here but I think I can get the same quality ish at a lower price somewhere else. I still recommend trying at least once though

The staff was very attentive and friendly, always checking to make sure we had what we needed. I also loved how clean and well-organized everything was. **Liu Yoshou Hotpot – Houston**
Finally, a legit slice of Chongqing in H-Town! This is the real-deal international chain straight out of the spicy motherland—no watered-down Tex-Mex fusion nonsense. The name is identical to the OG in Chongqing’s western districts, and the flavors prove it.
The **southwestern Chinese hotpot** is the star: numbing-spicy mala broth that’ll make your scalp tingle and your soul happy, plus milder options for the faint of heart. Full menu of **authentic street snacks**—think grilled cold noodles (liangfen), spicy duck blood, and those addictive Chongqing skewers.
Pro move: go for the **all-you-can-eat premium meat option**. Wagyu, lamb shoulder, pork jowl—keep ‘em coming till you tap out. Fresh veggies, handmade noodles, and dipping sauce bar round it out.
Service is fast, pots stay bubbling, and the vibe screams late-night Chongqing street energy. Only gripe? It gets packed—reserve ahead.
If you want the authentic Sichuan pepper high without boarding a plane, this is it. Will be back weekly. 🔥🥩🍲

Liuyishou Hot Pot offers an authentic Chongqing-style hot pot with rich, spicy, and numbing broth full of Sichuan peppercorn flavor. The ingredients are fresh and the menu has a good variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables. The sauce bar is customizable and very traditional. The space is lively and great for groups, though service can be a bit slow during busy hours. Prices are slightly higher, but worth it for the bold flavor and overall experience. 🌶️🍲 Will come backkk soon

We always order the house special soup base along with the new soup rotation—the variety every couple of months is a nice touch. However, the service was frustrating. After being told over the phone by a Chinese-speaking male that 5-year-old would eat free, the cashier still charged us. When I pointed out the mischarge and she asked who answered the phone, then simply replied that he "misspoken." I’m just glad we only had one 5-year-old in our group this time.
They couldn't push our tables together, which made it hard for our group to talk. Meat slices were thin one round, thick the next, some meatballs had a strong baking soda flavor, and we had to flag servers multiple times for water refills and skipped veggies. Also, for the AYCD, kids aren't offered a lower price. Flavorful soup, but it needs better reliability.

Food was great and they had enough space to tend to our part of 10. So many options for protein and vegetables. Different broths to satisfy anyone’s flavor profile. Service by Rachel was wonderful, she made sure we got what we needed everytime we asked for something. We went during Easter, and it was pretty busy, so keep that in mind but overall this won’t be our last time here.
